Dilbert

I love Dilbert--So you might see a few comics posted on here from time to time--just a warning :) I think this Comic is telling of workplace environment. The manager has come up with an idea that he is going to take credit for, and at the looks of it not that great of idea. However, instead of doing the work on his own he is making is employee do all the work and get it to him immediately. This manager isn't taking into account the other work that his subordinate might have to do, or the fact that what he needs is not a top priority. He also is not taking into affect how this must infuriate and upset the person that he is managing, and suppose to be leading and motivating. I think this is a perfect example of a lack of leadership. I personally can relate to the above experience at a past job, and I know first handed that it is infuriating when a manager expects you to drop everything for a personal project without knowing your work load. Does anybody else have experience with this?

  1. Dilbert is wise. This is usually a discussion topic on the way to work. There are often direct links to my work in this comic. Good start.

  2. Funny comic. Many business and political leaders have speech writers and publicist who craft the leader's talk, but at the end of the day they are never even mentioned by name. Hey Sarah Palins last speech is an example of what happens when leaders prepare their own talk without the aid of speech writers and publicist.

    Nice blog.

  3. It happens, call it an additional duty. But it's true what 'jbennett' said, it usually is someone writing all the stuff for the boss anyway... cough Public Affairs cough

  4. Yes, but there is a reason. Most accounts don't write press releases. managers or leaders delegate. there has been a shift in the paradigm of business thinking. this shift has moved the thinking from being well rounded individual to highly specialized if you are a good cost accountant your not going to be asked help on the managerial accounting side. With in and organization, department, team individuals have their roles.from and organizational view point why should a higher paid individual devote his/her time to tasks that others are better suited for.
